My stylist has been using this product on my hair for years. When I finally ran out of the discontinued Aveda Hang Straight, I jumped at the chance to buy a bottle of Biosilk.
Whether I wear my hair straight or curly, I love using Biosilk in it. A very small amount (a little goes a long way!) combats frizziness, even in the rain. And let me tell you about the shine! I’ve actually distracted myself when the sun hits my hair after using this product.
I use about a dime-sized amount in my mostly damp hair before I blow dry and then straighten. The slickness helps relax my curls and the coating protects it from the heat of the tools I use.
I’ve heard some stylists even use this on their hands when their hands get super dry from all that hair washing. I haven’t tried that myself, but I can’t imagine it wouldn’t work.
The scent is amazing, but subtle on my hair.

This is the only hair spray I use. I use it when I straighten my hair, I use it when I leave it curly and when I pull it up.
Aveda Air Control Hair Spray tames fly-aways and sets my style without making it sticky, even mid-run. It washes out easily and doesn’t leave behind any residue.
I get more compliments on the scent of this hair spray than I do several perfumes I wear regularly. While some might call it strong and in the summer it is a bit stronger than in the winter, I find it to be refreshing and great smelling.
I keep a travel size version in my purse that I bought at the nearest Aveda salon. A little goes a long way and that bottle has lasted several months.

Before Bath and Body Works created their own line of shampoo and conditioners to go with their signature scents, they had Hairworks. Which I LOVED.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I miss this product. Bath and Body Works Hairworks Banana Mint Deep Treatment was the first hair mask I’ve ever tried. It tamed my curls, moisturized and smelled amazing (assuming you like the smell of bananas).
As I was writing this post, I found it available on E-bay. However, since it has been several YEARS (maybe even a decade) since this was produced I won’t buy it. Neither should you. These products do have a shelf life. They do go bad.
In my search I did find a recipe for a more natural (the original was labeled natural, but wasn’t so much) version of this and will have to give it a try. I promise to keep you Pretties updated and let you know how it goes!

As much as I love the Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo, I love the conditioner even more.
While the shampoo washed the chlorine and salt down the drain and the conditioner left my hair soft, manageble and strong.
The quinoa protein in this Aveda conditioner is to “repair and re-moisturize damaged hair—infusing it anew with healthy movement, silkiness and shine.”
Love it!

While I was enjoying the sun and the sand, my hair was getting trashed.
Luckily, the last time I was at the Aveda store in the closest big city, I got a sample of this amazing shampoo and conditioner. In just a few washes my hair was restored to it’s normal, shiny, bouncy condition.
I couldn’t be happier! This is an amazing product. It took the salt and chlorine damage and literally washed it all down the drain.
This gentle daily shampoo repairs damage with “quinoa protein, while nurturing with rich coconut and babassu—lending new life to hair.”
Not to mention, the “babassu and coconut-based cleansing formula is kind to damaged hair” and the quinoa protein helps “strengthen and repair hair from the inside out.”
And it smells really good. I have a new vacation shampoo! If only it came in travel sizes.

Like most of you Pretties, I use a lot of product in my hair. That product builds up, weighing down my curls and leaving me a little greasy.
That’s where this wonderful shampoos comes in. It clears everything out. Leaving behind only bouncy, healthy, shiny hair. Product free!
As the back of the bottle states: “who needs a lot of extra baggage? lose the leftover gunk and ick of gels and sprays with my deep cleaning shampoo. clear your head with my invigorating, tingling suds made with a fusion of icy pineapple & cotton leaf. are you ready to squeak? c’mon i can’t hear you.”
The only thing that doesn’t hold true for me is this “tingling” feeling. I don’t get the tingle. But as long as this shampoo keeps clearing away all the gel, hairspray and other gunk, it will have a space in the shower!

I’ve been all about trying new shampoos lately. I promise to provide a full run down, but since I don’t want to bore you with all shampoo all the time, I’ll try to keep it to just a couple per week.
I love this amazingly natural shampoo bar from Lush. It lathers very well for a solid shampoo and leaves my hair shiny and silky. I don’t always use a conditioner when I shampoo with the Blonde!
The website and any Lush store employee will tell you how completely natural this product is. In fact, it is so natural and environment friendly, it received Lush’s Vegan stamp. Which means, “this product does not contain animal products of any kind.”
Lush promises the Blonde is for every tow head. “A beautiful, creamy soft shampoo to gently cleanse and slowly lighten; the Blonde is for natural blondes who want to be blonder and bottle blondes who want to look like natural blondes. Chamomile infusion and flowers lighten the hair and soothe the scalp so we put scoops of that in. Then we add lemon, mandarin and orange to cleanse and brighten dull locks. Go from bland to blonde by washing with this daily.”
I particularly enjoy using it on vacation. I’ve found it’s quite like a natural, less damaging version of Sun In!

This always leaves my hair greasy and flat. I’ve tried it before bed, I’ve tried it in the morning, but even if I just washed my hair and use the tiniest of amounts, I become grease city. Plus itchiness.
I thought I was just using it wrong, since it seemed to work so well at the salon. So the next time I was in, I asked. Nope. Using it right. Sigh.
