Bath and Body Works Tranquil Sleep (Original, lost!)

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I loved this scent. In the linen spray, in the bath soak, in the lotion, in absolutely everything.

I can’t even remember how I found it. It might have been a gift, I don’t know. But I rememebr how much I loved it.

I was so disappointed when Bath and Body Works discontinued it. I searched online and even bought a few of the bath soaks from e-Bay. Big mistake. The scent had changed in the tub and wasn’t right. What a waste.

Luckily for me, Bath and Body Works has tweaked the Aromatherapy line and added Lavender and Vanilla in their Aromatherapy Sleep collection. It seems every year, as my memory of the original fades, the Lavender and Vanilla scent gets closer and closer to Tranquil Sleep.

So while the original is lost, the new version is just as good. I hope this one sticks around.

Pure Aloe Vera Gel (love!)

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

On my beach vacation. I got stung by a bee. Not speaking the language, I was able to communicate enough to say I need something to stop the burning.

Little did I know what they gave me was liquid gold. The purest aloe gel I’ve ever seen. It stopped the burning.

And it did more. When I got a bit to much sun, it soothed and took away the redness. In fact, I didn’t touch my much pricier moisturizer the rest of the trip. This aloe gel did more for my skin in a week than the moisturizer I’ve been using did in a month.

Now the only problem is finding the pure aloe gel stateside. Growing the plants seem to take forever, anyone have a better suggestion?

Victoria’s Secret Tranquil Breezes (lost!)

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Hello Pretties! Did you miss me? I’ve been beach side enjoying the sunshine and ocean breezes. But now I’m back and can’t wait to share with you some of my newest finds.

In the mean time, I want to cry over yet another lost beauty favorite of mine. Victoria’s Secret Tranquil Breezes. I love this scent. It was clean and fresh. A quick Google search indicates it was full of melon and cucumber and a light floral. Wonderful.

You might be wondering why, I’m just now getting to this one. Well, my beautiful friends, it seems Victoria’s Secret heard some of our cries and came up with a similar scent!

As soon as our local store gets it in, I’ll test it and let you know what I think.

Stay Pretty!

Aveda Pure-Fume Spirit Personal Blends (love!)

Friday, May 14th, 2010

This product lives in my purse. I have it in the Rosemary Mint scent and I love it.

The website encourages you to “Create your own aromatic blends-spare as a haiku or moody and complex. Think of yourself as a cloud-seeder, infusing Aveda aroma-free skin and body formulas with drifts of pure, mind-balancing Aveda Key Element™ aromas.”

Your personal smell might be entirely different than mine. Which is why I highly recommend taking the scent journey at an Aveda store or salon.

I go through about a bottle a year. One spray goes a long way. It is very concentrated and lasts a long time. I love it and get compliments on the scent all the time.

Bath and Body Works Stress Relief – Eucalyptus Spearmint (love!)

Monday, May 10th, 2010

This is a great compliment to the Kiss My Face Cold and Flu soak. It’s part of the Aromatherapy line, which I love. The scent goes on a bit strong, but fades quickly. It’s clean, fresh and just wonderful.

I find it relaxing and comforting. It is amazingly moisturizing. Even after a few hand washings. I tend to use it in the morning on my way out the door. It’s uplifting.

Aveda Blue Oil Balancing Concentrate (love!)

Monday, April 26th, 2010

When I need a quick pick me up and there’s no Starbucks in sight, I reach for my Aveda Blue Oil Balancing Concentrate. The peppermint is invigorating and relaxing at the same time.

When I feel a migraine coming on, I rub it on my temples and under my nose and while the migraine doesn’t go away, it isn’t as bad as it could be.

Aveda used to have a blue oil massage gel that was wonderful after workouts (quite like a grown up version of Icy Hot) and I miss it terribly, but this is easy to keep in my purse or my desk at work. The roller ball makes application easy. No drips. No mess. No fuss.

Philosophy Hope Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 30 (love!)

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I’m cheating on my Cetaphil again. I can’t help it! I get wooed by the newest products from my favorite lines. Philosophy being one of them. And with summer coming up, my super fair skin needs all the SPF it can handle. I figure if I am using an SPF moisturizer, SPF foundation and a powder with SPF, I have to be doing something right, right?

Back to this amazing product. The consistency is thick, but not too thick. It has a pleasant, almost lavender scent. It goes on and sinks into skin, leaving you plumped in all the right places. It dries quickly and can immediately put on the rest of my make up without having to wait for it to dry.

I’ve already noticed a difference in my skin. The super fine laugh lines seems to be a little less noticeable. And even if that’s just the placebo effect of wishful thinking, I’m in love.

I can’t wait to see how this product stands up to the summer and if it can prevent that ever present fear of getting burned.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple (love!)

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

There is a good reason this product was named a winner by QVC, Sephora and Allure Magazine (among others!) it is amazing.

The website says, this product is for you, if:
“you’ve tried a lot of cleansers but never found one you loved
you crave deeply cleansed skin
you want a cleanser that will multi-task for you
you wear a lot of makeup
your skin is congested”

I’ve tried a million cleansers and not yet found one I loved. Until this one. I went to the Skincare Challenge at Sephora and they gave me a generous sample. After a week, I noticed a genuine difference in my skin. It seemed more supple, brighter and just overall healthier.

I love that this is one step and you are done. The smell is pleasant, not over powering and a little goes a long way. It feels like a facial every night.

Additionally, this amazing product is available in a great travel approved size in the check out line at Sephora for just $10! How could you go wrong!

I can’t recommend this product enough. I am tossing out all the other soaps, cleansers and make up removers.

Witch Hazel (love!)

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I’ve tried many a toner in the last decade. Everything from Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion to Sea Breeze. I’ve loved none of them. Some dry my face out, other oil it up. My grandmother actually recommended using Witch Hazel instead. I LOVE IT.

It’s relatively inexpensive. It doesn’t leave my face with that tight feeling and removes all of the soapy residue left over from cleansing. It’s calming and doesn’t turn my face red, either. I now know why my grandmother has been using this for nearly 50 years.

Now that I’ve sung the praises of this amazing product there are a few other uses than just an astringent. Soothing sunburn, shaving nicks, insect bites and poison ivy. Enjoy!
