Aveda Hand Relief (love!)

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I’d forgotten how much I love this product until my manicure. A good Aveda manicure involves an extensive hand massage with this amazing stuff. It seeps into your skin and truly lives up to the promise of staying on through a few hand washings.

The product description reads: “Hydrating plant emollients, humectants, exfoliating fruit acids and anti-oxidants—including vitamins A and E—help diminish signs of aging and provide optimal relief. Increases moisture levels and elasticity in skin with continued use.” No lies here.

Hand Relief isn’t tacky or sticky and by the end of the manicure, my hands are soft and completely dry.

It is a bit pricey and you can’t buy the large “For Professional Use Only” tube, but I find when my hands are desperate, I love it.

Not to mention, Aveda is pretty great about offering this as a freebie on a regular basis. Just sign up for their mail and keep an eye out for the next post card.

C. O. Bigelow Mentha Vitamin Body Wash # 1411 (love!)

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I finally found a replacement for my beloved H2O + Mint Ice (I lamented about it’s loss here)!

At the advice of a friend, we went to the local Bath and Body Works store. She had me close my eyes while she opened the Bigelow Mentha Vitamin Body Wash # 1411 under my nose. Instantly, I was filled with the wonderful aroma of true peppermint. I immediately bought a tube.

After one use, I was sold. It’s got the cool, refreshing, tingle I’ve sorely missed. It’s my favorite way to start the morning or cool down after a summer run.

True to it’s word, this “mint-infused body wash provides an invigorating sensation while cleansing and refreshing skin. Our wake-you-up formula deeply nourishes with Vitamins A, C & E to keep skin extra-healthy and looking it’s best.”

My skin is softer after a few uses.

Aveda Foot Relief (love!)

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I won’t lie. I don’t just use this lotion on my feet. In the summer, when I’m dying of heat, I cave and use this tingly peppermint infused lotion on my legs and arms.

The cooling sensation alone is so worth it.

As for how well the Aveda Foot Relief cream moisturizes, let’s just say I’ve not had a cracked heel or serious dry skin since I started using it regularly. It must be the “exfoliating fruit acids and plant-derived oils like jojoba and castor” that keep my feet so soft.

The website states the lotion even helps keep feet stink free with lavender and rosemary oils.

So by using this product, you’ll get soft, cooled, stink free feet that are perfect for those cute sandals you’ve been ogling!

Too Faced Second Base Anti Crease Shadow Base Matte (love!)

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I never wear eye shadow without this underneath. Ever. It keeps my shadow locked in place through an entire work day and some times even though a Body Combat class.

It goes on smooth and a little goes a long way.

There are two options, “First Base imparts a luminous glow and sheen to eyes with an opalescent shimmer hue while Second Base creates the perfect matte canvas.” I prefer second base because some of my shadows are shimmery already and don’t need extra.

In addition to sticking my shadow to my lids for the entire day, according to the Too Faced website, I”m doing my lids some good.

Too Faced Eyeshadow bases “soothe, protect and condition with the added benefit of keeping eye shadows in place. Infused with a botanical blend of essential oils and vitamins.”

Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion (love!)

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Most scented moisturizers irritate my skin. I love the way other lotions smell, but can’t handle the itch factor afterward.

Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion lives up to the hype and then gives me more.

Honestly, I can’t get enough of this moisturizer! It makes my skin FEEL beyond words. It feels soft, silky, healthy and smooth. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a grease trail. I keep a small bottle of it in my purse, in my gym bag, at my desk at work and in the car. I refill those little bottles constantly.

When I want a subtle scent without the irritation, I simply add some essential oil, a few drops of perfume or that lotion that irritates my skin to one of the small bottles and shake it up until it’s well mixed. The scent is slight but the moisture is great.

I cannot recommend this product enough. It. Is. Truly. Amazing. And worth the whole $10 it costs for a huge bottle.
