E.L.F. Professional Eye Shadow Brush (love!)

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

I’ve been searching for a good eye shadow brush for some time. The last time I was at the grocery store, on a whim, I picked up the E.L.F. Professional Eye Shadow Brush.

I thought to myself, it’s a $1. If I love it, then I saved a ton of money and if I hate it, it is a candy bar I didn’t eat.

Luckily, I loved it. It holds and deposits color extremely well. The brush is the right size and angle.

If you can find this product, I highly recommend picking at least one up. I will be buying more soon!

Mary Kay Satin Lips Lip Balm (love!)

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

I don’t love the Satin Lips System (I find the scrub too harsh for my lips), but I can’t get enough of the balm. For me, it’s like Vaseline, but better. It’s less sticky and more moisturizing.

I particularly like using it in the morning before putting on my makeup while washing my face or before a shower, so it has time to absorb. I find it absorbs quickly and leaves my lips ready for my favorite lipstick or gloss.

Sephora Colorful Mono Eyeshadow (love!)

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Wanting to mix things up a bit for a dressy event recently, I pulled out my Aspen Summit (silvery white shimmer). I used it over a pink and brown I’d already applied. It added some serious pop, that even I wasn’t expecting.

It’s shimmery without being high school glittery. I promise. When used with a light hand it is subtle.

In the photos from the event, I noticed my eyes were bluer and brighter and somehow seemed even more open.

The color is rich and a little goes a long way. I use an eyeshadow brush and blend, blend, blend.

Sephora Colorful Mono Eyeshadow can also be used wet for a more intense look.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple (love!)

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

There is a good reason this product was named a winner by QVC, Sephora and Allure Magazine (among others!) it is amazing.

The website says, this product is for you, if:
“you’ve tried a lot of cleansers but never found one you loved
you crave deeply cleansed skin
you want a cleanser that will multi-task for you
you wear a lot of makeup
your skin is congested”

I’ve tried a million cleansers and not yet found one I loved. Until this one. I went to the Skincare Challenge at Sephora and they gave me a generous sample. After a week, I noticed a genuine difference in my skin. It seemed more supple, brighter and just overall healthier.

I love that this is one step and you are done. The smell is pleasant, not over powering and a little goes a long way. It feels like a facial every night.

Additionally, this amazing product is available in a great travel approved size in the check out line at Sephora for just $10! How could you go wrong!

I can’t recommend this product enough. I am tossing out all the other soaps, cleansers and make up removers.

Becca Fine Loose Finishing Powder (love!)

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to write about a product I use every. single. day. and can’t imagine my life without!

This finishing powder locks in my foundation, my blush and everything else without over drying or irritating my skin. And even better, a little goes a long way!

According to the website “This unique formulation is lightly pigmented and micro-milled, creating a perfectly uniform, ultra thin layer that allows the skin’s natural oils to lightly shine through. The result ensures your foundation looks like real skin, with the added benefit of your makeup staying on all day. Preservative and paraben-free.” It feels amazing on and is super light weight. I can even wear it in the summer!

This is the first powder that doesn’t get cakey and actually matches my skin. I could wear it alone without any foundation and no one would notice the difference.

The website isn’t stingy on the professional tips, either. This jewel came from the woman at the Becca counter at Bergdorf and is repeated on the website: “For best results, use a small amount and apply with the velour puff (included) taking care to set all areas where makeup has been applied. Dab onto the skin in a patting motion rather than a wiping motion and brush off any excess with a large powder brush.”

If you’ve been avoiding powder because of a bad experience get yourself to a Becca counter and try this. You won’t regret it!
