Origins Youthtopia Firming Eye Cream (like)

Monday, September 6th, 2010

This is a bit thick for my liking. It also clumps a little under my regular foundation.

But it is moisturizing.

I haven’t used it enough to see the claimed results, but they sound realistic.

According to the website, Youthtopia Firming Eye Cream will “visibly de-age, reduce puffiness and help empower fragile eye skin to rebound from damaging stress. Your eye area looks firmer and more youthful with none of the potential wrinkles.”

Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Cream (love!)

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

I look for the most moisturizing, pampering foot cream that works quickly.

Initially, this is a bit sticky and greasy, but apply before bed throw on an old pair of socks and you’ll wake up with wonderfully soft feet.

The main ingredients, “coconut oil, lanolin and vegetable glycerin to revive and rejuvenate even the driest, most neglected feet. There’s also a hint of natural rosemary and peppermint oils to refresh tired feet.”

Biosilk Silk Therapy Hair Styling Serum (love!)

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

My stylist has been using this product on my hair for years. When I finally ran out of the discontinued Aveda Hang Straight, I jumped at the chance to buy a bottle of Biosilk.

Whether I wear my hair straight or curly, I love using Biosilk in it. A very small amount (a little goes a long way!) combats frizziness, even in the rain. And let me tell you about the shine! I’ve actually distracted myself when the sun hits my hair after using this product.

I use about a dime-sized amount in my mostly damp hair before I blow dry and then straighten. The slickness helps relax my curls and the coating protects it from the heat of the tools I use.

I’ve heard some stylists even use this on their hands when their hands get super dry from all that hair washing. I haven’t tried that myself, but I can’t imagine it wouldn’t work.

The scent is amazing, but subtle on my hair.

Aveda Hand Relief (love!)

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I’d forgotten how much I love this product until my manicure. A good Aveda manicure involves an extensive hand massage with this amazing stuff. It seeps into your skin and truly lives up to the promise of staying on through a few hand washings.

The product description reads: “Hydrating plant emollients, humectants, exfoliating fruit acids and anti-oxidants—including vitamins A and E—help diminish signs of aging and provide optimal relief. Increases moisture levels and elasticity in skin with continued use.” No lies here.

Hand Relief isn’t tacky or sticky and by the end of the manicure, my hands are soft and completely dry.

It is a bit pricey and you can’t buy the large “For Professional Use Only” tube, but I find when my hands are desperate, I love it.

Not to mention, Aveda is pretty great about offering this as a freebie on a regular basis. Just sign up for their mail and keep an eye out for the next post card.

C. O. Bigelow Mentha Vitamin Body Wash # 1411 (love!)

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I finally found a replacement for my beloved H2O + Mint Ice (I lamented about it’s loss here)!

At the advice of a friend, we went to the local Bath and Body Works store. She had me close my eyes while she opened the Bigelow Mentha Vitamin Body Wash # 1411 under my nose. Instantly, I was filled with the wonderful aroma of true peppermint. I immediately bought a tube.

After one use, I was sold. It’s got the cool, refreshing, tingle I’ve sorely missed. It’s my favorite way to start the morning or cool down after a summer run.

True to it’s word, this “mint-infused body wash provides an invigorating sensation while cleansing and refreshing skin. Our wake-you-up formula deeply nourishes with Vitamins A, C & E to keep skin extra-healthy and looking it’s best.”

My skin is softer after a few uses.

Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Conditioner (love!)

Monday, June 7th, 2010

As much as I love the Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo, I love the conditioner even more.

While the shampoo washed the chlorine and salt down the drain and the conditioner left my hair soft, manageble and strong.

The quinoa protein in this Aveda conditioner is to “repair and re-moisturize damaged hair—infusing it anew with healthy movement, silkiness and shine.”

Love it!

Aveda Foot Relief (love!)

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I won’t lie. I don’t just use this lotion on my feet. In the summer, when I’m dying of heat, I cave and use this tingly peppermint infused lotion on my legs and arms.

The cooling sensation alone is so worth it.

As for how well the Aveda Foot Relief cream moisturizes, let’s just say I’ve not had a cracked heel or serious dry skin since I started using it regularly. It must be the “exfoliating fruit acids and plant-derived oils like jojoba and castor” that keep my feet so soft.

The website states the lotion even helps keep feet stink free with lavender and rosemary oils.

So by using this product, you’ll get soft, cooled, stink free feet that are perfect for those cute sandals you’ve been ogling!

Suave Cocoa Butter with Shea Moisturizer (love!)

Friday, May 21st, 2010

I keep the smaller version of this in my desk at work. Honestly, when I’m craving chocolate, I just lather this on my hands and the subtle chocolate scent is just enough to get me by.

It is amazingly moisturizing and stays on through multiple hand washings and Germ-X uses.

This lotion absorbs really quickly. I am back to typing away on my computer within a few minutes, much faster than other cocoa butters.

Bull Frog Ultimate Sheer Protection Sunblock, SPF 30 (love!)

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

I run, a lot. With my fair skin, I can’t go for a run without sunscreen. Ever.

But I hate it when the sunscreen drips down my face and into my eyes. I especially hate it when it drips and I end up with a streaky sunburn, that is not pretty. Or healthy.

I’ve tried lots of sunscreens, but this one is the best I’ve found. As long as I put it on about a half hour before a run, it absorbs into my skin and doesn’t drip down my face.

I’m excited to continue using Bull Frog Ultimate Sheer Protection Sunblock throughout the summer to see if it holds up to my expectations. This spring it has not disappointed me.

Philosophy Cinnamon Buns Lip Shine (love!)

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

From the Sephora website: “Inspired by philosophy’s best-selling shower gel and bubble bath comes Cinnamon Buns Lip Shine. This high-gloss formula is infused with a delicious cinnamon buns scent and flavor that is sure to bring a smile to your lips and anyone who may come in contact with them! Cinnamon Buns Lip Shine leaves behind a beautiful, supernatural finish that looks and tastes absolutely scrumptious.”

With a description like that, how could you go wrong?

This is amazing! As I’ve previously said, I am addicted to lip balms, but this shine is worth it. The cinnamon tingles a little and leaves my lips super soft.

I find it helps the craving for cinnamon buns without the calories!
