Late last week, I was nearly blinded by the sparkle emanating from a package of polishes that arrived courtesy of OPI and their “show stopping” new collection, Burlesque.
After lining up bottle after bottle of glittering lacquer on my vanity, I figured I’d take at least one of the new hues out for a spin on Mani Monday. After all, ‘tis the season.
I picked two shining new hues, “The Show Must Go On,” a ruby red and “Glow Up Already,” a golden glitter fest, and headed to a favorite local spa. Somewhere between cuticle trimming and paraffin, I joked to my manicurist that after I left, I’d be followed by 8-year-old girls, who would, no doubt, envy my dazzling tips. Little did I know…
The first fan of my new manicure was me; I was literally fascinated by the way the sunlight captured the glitter in the polish, as if miniscule specks of diamonds adorned my fingernails. (For toes, I opted for two coats of “The Show Must Go On” plus one coat of “Glow Up Already.”)
As my manicurist oohed and awed, a few of the spa’s clients stopped and stared. Yup, these colors get noticed. At dinner, my husband declared the new hue his favorite color ever, he said it was the red that caught his eye, but what man doesn’t notice a little sparkle?
The only downside? Between my eyelash extensions and my glittery “The Show Must Go On” manicure, there may be a chorus line somewhere calling my name. Is it too much? Hell no! In the wise words of OPI, “Bring on the Bling.”
