Leña – Latin Love at first bite

I attended the  The Voice Choice eats awards  recently and discovered  Leña Latin  grill eatery while tasting my way through the aisles.  First, let me tell you I have a love of Latin food and soul food. They have similar qualities but different spices. Both leave you feeling like you just ate at your Mom’s with a sense of satisfaction and that feeling of home. I can’t explain it exactly but it’s just a good feeling.

So back to the Choice Eats awards, Lena means firewood in Spanish . This explains why one week after the awards I found myself in the hardwood decor of the actual Lena space. The food is amazing, Yucca fries, grilled chicken with chimichurri or whatever salsa you choose. Wraps with your choice of meat , sauce and sides. I’m partial to chimichurri from my love of Argentine food. While there one day I discovered a few friends also fell in love with this spot. I guess we were all trying to keep it a secret, ha! Located just a few blocks away from the Garment district on  34 W35th street , Leña is  a must.

Daffy’s for Spring shoe savings

Recently , I checked out the Daffy’s near the office I happen to be in on 57Th St. and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been to the store before but not anytime recently. Spring shoes were on my mind and I  was looking for the the three c’s comfort , color and cut. As this season color is the  all the rage, and  a girls need sto be comfortable running around this city.

Target knows how to party! The Go international style 5th Anniversary

Amid the rain and despite my hair I made it out to see the Target Go International  5th Anniversary party for designer fashion. Even though the rain poured New Yorkers didn’t bat an eye and came out in droves.

Target was reissuing 34 dresses from 17 Go International designers before it went public the next day. If you get a chance to stop into Opening Ceremony at the Ace Hotel soon you will see a some items from the collection.

Celebrities , designers, and stylist all braved the storm to get first dibs on this collection. I spotted Chloe Sevigny,  super stylista June Ambrose looking bright and beautiful , Thakoon and Liv Tyler.

The evening was completed by  one of my favorite artist Santogold performing songs from her last album Creative. She wore  a Target designer  and even thanked Target for the beautiful dress on stage. A gracious one that Santogold. She is now sporting a cute little bob cut looking very fashion forward.

But the big surprise of the night took us back to the early Prince days with amazing performance by the Suprise guest : Sheila E. Sheila performed several hits including Glamorous Life and closed out with a slamming drum solo! I had some video to show you all  but for some reason it’s not uploading. I’ll try again later.

No doubt she hasn’t missed a beat in her Glamerous Life !

Wondering How to wear a bra? Check out the Bra Book

When I got the invitation in I wondered what this was all about. If you ever wondered weather or not you were wearing the right bra size look no further than The Bra Book.

Style expert and author  Jene Luciani decided it was time to inform!. Last Friday night amid the torrid ran I braved the storm and headed to the Charles Hotel in NYC to check out the launch party for Jene ‘s new book which was  hosted by Bravo.

Celebs like Kat de Luna were in attendance to cheer her on. Jene herself was wearing the first dress entirely made of bras ,200 to be exact! Yes you are reading that correctly .See for yourself. The dress was designed by Project Runways Chris March exclusively for the event . And as luck would have it the DJ and chef turned out to be the same person. DJ “Chef” Weiss. Hey who says men can’t multi -task?

Upstairs in  the VIP room I took a look at some pieces from  my new jewlery crush  toujour , Chelsea Taylor .So much bling without the bang to the pockets.  The rings, earings and bracelets  are beautifully crafted for the modern  girl the go. I can’t wait to rock a pair of Chelsea Taylor earrings ! Guest sipped on Nuvo cocktails and were able to check out the Bra Book on the  new  Barnes and Noble No0k color e -book reader, snack on  candy by Oh la la Candy , Pop chips and get massages by Oasis Day spa.
