Soft Serve Fruit Co

National Ice Cream month is starting on July 1rst,   just  in time for the hot summer BBQ season. Pretties love sweet treats and If you are an ice cream lover than you will love this exciting new option for a sweet treat.

Soft Serve Fruit in NYC is a perfect alternative to enjoy a rich creamy treat without the extra fat and processed sugar. Located on the upper west side at 1371 3rd Avenue (at 78th Street) and  it’s new location 25 East 17th street. This location just opened last night !

Every flavor is made from real fruit in house. Since it is made from only  3 ingredients fruit, cane sugar and filtered water ,you know there’s no funny business going on.

My recommendation ? Go all out for with Crunch Salty sundae ( a heavenly delight of Fresh banana and organic peanut butter, pretzels and chocolate chips) You will not miss  Ben& Jerry’s  and your thighs will thank  you trust me!

Want to win $20 Gift Card to Soft serve? Follow me on twitter @beautygazette and re tweet this post with the phrase : I’ll take Soft Serve Fruit over ice cream.

Winner will be chosen randomly on  Wednesday July 6th . Good luck!

Uptown Spa: Shellac Manicure at Turning Heads Salon & Day Spa

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

Recently I had and opportunity to check out this new manicure topic on every one’s lips called Shellac Manicure. Now most of us think downtown or  even flatiron for our spa services. This time I went up town to  Harlem to Turning Heads Salon & Day  Spa  to check out this manicure everyone is raving about. I wanted to prove to myself and others that you can get the latest spa services without leaving your uptown hood.

Sandy Scarbough, has owned the posh Harlem oasis since 2009.Starting  her career as a hairstylist at the salon first, led her  to envision more than a salon. She wanted a full service spa in Harlem where there really was no other competition or services like hers.Turning Heads is currently the only full service spa in Harlem.

One  of  those services is the latest craze  in nail fashion ,the  Shellac manicure. Martha the resident manicurist assured me that this thick polish would be fully dry in about 10 minutes . “Really “,I questioned in disbelief.”Yes and it will last for 2 weeks”confirmed Martha. The manicure itself was complete . Martha did get a little too happy cutting my cuticles.Pushing back was not an option she insisted. “There is  just so much”she said. So off they came ,with what felt like my skin too.But alas I told myself it was all for the greater good of beautiful chip -free nails, suck it up sister.

Turning Heads  uses the CND gel  polish and yes it really lasts! I have to say for once it was actually pleasure to have a manicure ,cuticles aside. I love the fact the my mani was  done ,dry and ready to go in under 15 minutes. No smudging or chipping. Would I try this again? Definitely! The downside is that you really need patience to take the polish off. About  15 minutes of  it to soak nails in polish remover.

Weekly specials here are on Tuesday and Wednesdays for mani-pedi with Shellac for $35.00! That’s a deal worth traveling uptown for.
