My one day at the IBS NYC started with all the hoopla you would expect. Having not been since the year before I was excited to see some of my favorites and some new vendors. The brands the make the largest platform including demos every hour include Rusk,Amika,Arrojo and Macadamia Oil to name a few.
Wallking around for a few hours it is a literal candy shop of hair, skin and make for the professional market. Some hair trends 2013 that continue are clip in hair extensions in every color imaginable. Nails lacquers in patterns and colors, hair tools that continue to improve on health of hair . Even reality tv’s Teresa Guidice from RHONJ got into the game and launched her haircare line.
What caught my eye particularly was a new brand styling tools that you should know about.
Tools by Denina hair tools the Il Kono collection:
This two year old line of hair tools started by husband and wife team is ingenious. Liz Slaughter created what I like to call smart tools .
- A flat iron that style based on the condition of your hair not the temperature.
- A second flat iron with 4 in 1 styling options with Titanium.
- An anti Microbial 3 step power blow dryer.

The II Kono Deluxe Glider Flat Iron with Heat Protection Intelligence.

Ultimate 4 in 1 Titanium styler

The anti microbial blow dryer has microbial blue lights to kill germs on the scalp to sanitize and keep it healthy while processing. This combats dandruff and mustiness on the scalp. How genius is that?
Denina is a hair tools brand to be watched!
The latest Amika styling products
One of the old favorites . Amika is Introducing the Straight up Smoothing Balm for sleek hair and frizz control. It’s a creamy heat activated straightening balm in the Obliphica collection. Other styling products introduced were the Amika touchable hair spray and the Amika perk up Dry shampoo.

Amika Straight up balm
As a someone who was a bit fearful of dry shampoos I must say this Perk Up Dry Shampoo did just that. It extended the life of my blow out for several days. My hair maintained body and bounce and never dried out. This is worth a trip to the beauty supply for only $21 it’s worth it.

Next year I’ll have to make sure I can head back for day two
