New York Chocolate Show hits town this weekend.

Saturday, November 10th, 2012

The first day of the New York Chocolate show is a chocoholics dream. If you happen to be in town this weekend it’s a must.

I’ve already overdosed on some delectable treats but that was yesterday and I’m craving another Salt of the Earth cookie. I suggest all varieties but especially salted double chocolate cookies , que rico!

There are samples among samples of Hot chocolate from specialist like Mariebelle chocolatiers, vegan chocolates that look like works of art by Oliver Kita ,who has Brooklynites flocking over the bridge to pick up his special Cognac chocolates, even chocolate wines like The Chocolate Wine Shop

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to have a coco inspired  breakfast along with many other media people and Chef Zac Young ,Top pastry chef and formerly of Top Chef TV. He and his good friend bacon fat ( I know !) created an amazing dessert /breakfast  Chocolate bacon hazelnut pecan sticky buns oh my! Since bacon is not something it eat this was quite astonishing but I did have little bacon less taste to satisfy my curiosity.

See the video here eZMhjBjn-hU

Final version was delicous!

And there is so much more to see and taste.

Salt of the Earth Bakery has incredible cookies and brownies combined salt from Malaysia, Kona Salt from Hawaii a delicious combo

Grab up an Oliver Kita holiday chocolate box while they last.

Weekend snacking that wont break the scale

Sunday, October 21st, 2012

Like most foodies I am a snacker. Cold weather is snacking weather but instead of munching on fatty snacks I have vowed to keep them healthy and tasty.

As a certified chocoholic nothing beats a warm hot brownie but who needs all the unwanted calories? Brownie lovers the wait is over Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle has arrived at the local Fairway market finally ! At 150 calories for 6 pieces there is no guilt. If you have ever longed for the crunchy chocolate part of a brownie these are a must. I first heard of Sheila G and co this summer at the Snack attack media event in NY. Where these became the talk of the floor. Available In several favors including : chocolate chip, toffee chip , traditional walnut. Try them in the oven for 5 minutes for an extra treat. Excuse me I, running to Fairway market.

On the salty side I am really enjoying a gluten free crackers called Crunchmaster . I had a chance to try the multigrain cracker among other flavors . These are so good and light , made with rice flour and includes sesame seats and flax seeds. I suggest them alone or with soup or dip of choice. At Only 140 calories for 15 crackers this is a good crunchy way snack to add to this list.
