A Classic Trend

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Pedicures are a must in the spring. Dragging the dogs out after a long winter and shoving them into sandals, pre-pedicure, is positively appalling! In Light of this I scheduled my spring cleaning appointment with a new addition to the Milwaukee beauty scene, Urban Trends SalonSpa, and let me just say, “WELCOME HOME!”  Nestled downtown this mid-sized salon offers all of the amazing amenities you might find at a larger corporate salon including, bottled water, candy, and a fully stocked bathroom that is beyond beautiful!

However, when it comes down to it Tootsie’s can’t save a salon.  Treatments, technique, staff, and pricing are really the cornerstone’s to success and ***Spoiler alert**** Urban Trends Salonspa is stacked!  Offering a variety of treatments in hair design, skincare, waxing, massage, make-up, and nails; Urban has everything you need to look your best without breaking your bank

Amy, my Sole Savior, chiseled, chipped, soaked, and scrubbed until my toes were pampered, painted, and perfectly Dim Sum Plum’ed! The Classic Pedicure is absolutely divine and one of my new “must have’s”! I skipped walking and took cloud 9 home after I realized the best pedicure I have ever had was also the cheapest, and you can’t beat that with an orange stick! Find out more about our beautiful new neighbor here!

***** Limited Time: $20 off your first service No restrictions!!

Special Thank you to Amy and Trent! XOXOX

Don’t spend this summer sweating your make-up off! Let us help you stay cool and look flawless with L’Oreal’s Studio Secrets Professional Color Correcting Primer! I hate spending time with my make-up just to have it run away the second it get’s a little steamy. Thankfully, my BFF recommended L’Oreal’s Color Correcting Primer, and I absolutely love it! L’Oreal’s Color Correcting Primer is available in two shades, light or dark, and can be worn alone or under foundation. I use a small amount in the morning, a little goes a long way, sans foundation and my complexion looks brighter, smoother, and more radiant. Now, I know that going without foundation will not work for everyone, but with Summer around the corner L’Oreal’s Professional Color Correcting Primer is easy, affordable, and effortless. Not to mention a fantastic alternative to beat the heat and avoid make-up meltdown.

Hollaback at a Throwback

Monday, April 12th, 2010

When it comes to perfume I do not date around. I am a commitment diva. I only participate in relationship’s that provide  me with compliments, luxury, and of course a ”scents” of self. I have never been in a  fragrance fling.  So what’s the reason my perfume partners fail? My only explanation is.. It’s not them it’s me;) Last week, while my Fragile was still away due to shipping, I found myself downtown flirting with Gwen Stefani’s popular Harajuku Lover’s line. Love, Lil’ Angel, Music, and Baby seemed a little young, but Gwen Stefani is fabulous! I grew up walking into spider webs so I started my routine dissection of each scent.

  1. Look at packaging
  2. Smell scent
  3. Ponder scent
  4. Look back at packaging
  5. Investigate price
  6. Buy perfume, 6a. Determine scent is better for friend 6b. Think to myself ” who would wear that” as I sheepishly look around apologizing with smiles for spraying it everywhere.

However, little did I know I was about to run into one of my aromatic exe’s…… or was I? This eau de dissection had turned into a  fragrance flashback,  Harajuku Lovers -Baby smells just like my junior high scent BCBGirls- Nature!!  I was totally thrown off.  After repeating steps 3 & 4 five more times I had closed the case. Gwen might not be a hollaback girl, but she definitely is a throwback girl!  Harajuku Lovers- Baby and BCBGirls- Nature contain almost all the same ingredients and are both fruity floral scents that have a base in Bergamot, Musk, Heliotrope, & Vanilla. I have not seen BCBGirls- Nature in years, but it was great to reminisce with Harajuku Lovers- Baby, which I must say would be totally fab’ for any diva in training.

Get it, Curl!

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Mascara is a must for blow out lashes but often times we over look the tool that will give our lashes the ultimate look, the eyelash curler. Now, don’t flinch away in terror just yet! This tool is, at times, intimidating but with a little practice and the right type of curler you will be laughing your lashes all the way to the top! In my opinion, there is only one in the world of curlers and that, my dear beauties, is of course, Shu Uemera. This cult classic curler is coveted by celebrities and make-up artist, but is affordable to all! priced at $19 you gotta curl, girl!

To help protect and keep the edge from slipping Shu Uemera features a silicon pad with an upgraded “mushroom” shape, which improves safety and provides max curl! Also,  the hinge’s pantented design is carefully engineered to apply the perfect amount of pressure for your eyelashes, and the ergonomic handle ensures control and stability. There are many features that make this eyelash curler famous, user friendly, affordable, and just for you!…. well you & Gisele ;)

Chanel You Shouldn’t Have!

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010
Chanel is really giving us the goods lately! Just a couple weeks before introducing some pretty, poppy, beautiful, brights for summer 2010 to Chanel counters, (which I absolutely love!!!! I mean these colors scream summer and make me scream,”Gimme that Aquamarine!”)

We get a peek at the Noir et Or Paris Shanghai Collection! A super glamorous collection inspired by the Orient. This collection is a sophisticated study of light and dark that juxtaposes shiny and matte finishes, which is meant to convey Coco Chanel’s perception of Shanghai in the 1930′s & 40′s.

Included in the collection are some stellar pieces. Le Vernis Nail Color in Black Velvet, a matte black polish that’ll make a great tip for reverse French manicures (shown above), Le Vernis Nail Colour in Gold Lame, a satiny gold, and Ligne et Ombre de Chanel in Jet-Gold will be stand-out in the spring sun along with an eye compact containing a matte black eye liner and sparkling gold shadow.

The summer 2010 pop bright beauty is available in late April, but be warned these colors will go fast so if you must have one call your local Chanel counter today and ask to put your favorite on hold. The waitlist for The Noir Et Or Paris-Shanghai Collection starts Wednesday and is available only at Chanel.com, Chanel Boutiques and Chanel Makeup Studios.

Tokyo Milk

By

Margot Elena

(Objects to Desire)

While browsing the Third Ward last week I discovered the sweetest perfume, Tokyo Milk. This eccentric line of  Eau de Parfum spray and Petit Parfum Solide’s had me instantly intrigued.  Each perfume has a  unique vintage picture on the box, which is detailed in hand painted glitter.

Petit Parfum Solide

The interest of this line does not stop there, Tokyo milk has a great way with names from Honey and The Moon to I Made You A Mixtape I was singing a Song in D Minor over Scarlett, a  floral scented Petit Parfum Solide with just a hint of oriental spices, Divine!

Glittery rose detailSophisticated fun!

Each Scent has a name and a number, but this isn’t the military! Tokyo Milk  is fun, interesting, and witty! Every girls dream? Maybe! Try I Want Candy or Le Petit for your next fragrance or gift it to a friend.

Sophisticated Fun!

These fragrances are sure to please, but once you buy it will you actually be able to give it away?
