October: Think Pink

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

October’s just begun and there are a myriad of breast cancer products on the market that benefit the cause. Not only can you get amazing deals on limited edition items ranging from fashion to beauty to artwork but more importantly, each company above {and many more!} donates a percentage of their proceeds to their charity partner. Think Susan G. Komen and Y-ME.

As a woman who has loved and lost several family members from breast cancer…I can’t think of a better reason to hit the streets and go shopping. Just this weekend I purchased Jo Malone’s Red Red Roses. Think Pink!

  1. Tote
  2. Artwork
  3. Bath Oil
  4. Hand Lotion
  5. Beauty Blender
  6. Lip Gloss
  7. Cartier Bracelet

Do you want to see what’s in our closet?

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

When this program was first conceptualized by our team, it was hard to not let out a squeal of excitement. I mean…where can you shop exclusive, hard-to-find, luxury brands and get 50% off every product  just for being a loyal reader? Oh and by the way…it’s 50% off BEAUTY PRODUCTS! This is like the ultimate Christmas list year-round and I am happy to share with you that it launches 3/21/11! Credit cards ready? Did you memorize that security code on the back? Make sure to quiz yourself because these products won’t last forever. In fact, we’re only selling 50 total on a weekly basis. Eeps!

The real question is…what brands or products do you want to see in our closet?

I’m a Wonder Woman

M.A.C. Wonder Woman Collection

Let’s just say the blogging community has fed my thirst for beauty knowledge and this is one collection that I won’t be missing. Leave it to MAC to create a wonderfully nostalgic line with amazing packaging. And you know how much I love packaging, right? Those big, fat mascara and lip glosses are calling my name and I might just wear them with my gold cuffs.

MAC – feel free to send some my way. I’m a serious tester!

It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiney day…

If there’s one designer that withstands the test of time, it’s Marc Jacobs for me. Above are images from his Spring/Summer 2011 shows. Mr. Jacobs has defined an entire season of fashion for the industry and its buyers like you and me. Forecast reads…bring on the brights. Coral, tangerine, plum, orchid and saffron are the hallmarks of this Spring’s fashion and it’s made it’s way over to the cosmetic counter, too. Coral is indeed the hottest trend to touch your lips and nails.

And this trend doesn’t have to break your bank, either. Major mass brands such as Revlon and Loreal are stocking their shelves and dishing out full page ads featuring their models in coral lips and sun-kissed skin. If coral lips seem too bold, transfer the trend to your digits and you’ll still be ahead of the curve. Even brands like J.Crew are featuring models in coral lips via their catalogs!

And if you’re not buying into the whole cosmetic trend right now or don’t want to risk the chance of bringing home a tube of lipstick that looks scary in your bathroom mirror…incorporate it into your wardrobe via a fun coral clutch, strappy sandals or blazer. Be sure to check out retailers such as H&M, Topshop, Forever21 and Nordstrom’s Rack for inexpensive, realistic finds that won’t send you into a tizzy of regret once the trend changes next season. Really, you can’t go wrong and it’s sure to brighten your mood and everyone’s around you. My 10-day forecast reads: warm temps and sunshiney days!

A change is coming on…

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Feeling a bit overwhelmed due to the impending holidays and truthfully, a bit uninspired as well. I suppose it happens to everyone but this is the reason for my blog post neglect. There are actually a lot of excuses reasons for this. There is a lot of change going on in my life and while all of it is welcome…it’s left me in a rut from a beauty and fashion standpoint. {More on that later…} That said, I find the holidays to be festive, fun and filled with treats hence my attempt to make a writing comeback. So…with that…some fun stocking/gifting items for the holidays –

Deborah Lippman's holiday sparkle lacquer

Juicy Couture solid perfume ring

Too Faced's Beauty in a Box - Nude Revue

Kate Spade's newest holiday fragrance - "Twirl"

There are a million other options out there depending on where you shop. All of my choices can be found at Sephora. Happy shopping – Black Friday is looming around the corner!

Pretty in Pink

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Every year I look forward to October for one reason. {well, two if you include Halloween} The primary reason is because every year the company I work for, Pretty City, gives back to the community all in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign is called “Pretty in Pink” and for the 31 days of October, our clients consisting of spas, salons, med spas and wellness centers offer treatments for $31 in honor of the cause. Think facials, massages, manis, pedis…the list goes on. And, for every business that participates, Pretty City donates $200 on their behalf to Bright Pink. Bright Pink is an organization that helps raise awareness and education for not only breast cancer but ovarian cancer and those afflicted with the disease as well. It’s an amazing charity that I always feel so proud to be connected to. So…spread the word and get pampered in the name of a great cause – you never know who you are going to help! Register and find pampering destinations in your city!
