The Wet/Dry Brush

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

This is a brand new addition to the Creative Professional Hair Tools brush line and I am so glad that I got to be one of the first to try it. The Wet/Dry Brush works great on both wet & dry hair and can be used every day. It’s a perfect brush for detangling extensions, weaves, wigs and all types of hair. I immediately put one in my gym bag and it’s great for spa days too. The bristles have coated tips that glide through hair easily. It will not rip hair or irritate your scalp. www.creativehairtools.com .

The folks at Creative Professional Hair Tools are offering interested consumers all of their hair-care products at %15 off for the holidays! This offer ends December 31st. Use promo code “c15″ at checkout.

Clip-In Bangs!

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

My 16 year old niece tells me that all of her girlfriends are rocking bangs these days…clip-in bangs! Seems celebrities like Lea Michele, Kate Hudson & Halle Berry flaunt them too. Clip in bangs are a great idea. They offer an easy way to try a new hairstyle without the “chop”. They prove that fringe can be fun and take away that dreaded “growing out my bangs” stage. Try Kymaro’s Clip-in Bangs. They are heat resistant up to 356° Fahrenheit. They can be curled and cut. You can shampoo them and blow them dry, plus, they are amazingly affordable at just $9.95! www.ubuyez.com

Creative Professional Hair Tools…

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Not all combs are created equally! You may not realize how damaging combs can be to your hair. Burrs and jagged seams, improper positioning of teeth and other inadequacies can break and damage healthy hair causing split ends, dullness and all around hair havoc!

I especially love the hand-made Tortoise combs from Creative Professional Hair Tools! Each is hand made from a single sheet of Italian cellulose acetate. They are comfortable in your hand, there are no burrs and the teeth are gently rounded. The prices range from $10.90 – $13.90. Stylist can enter promo code “creativepro” at checkout for a professional discount. www.creativehairtools.com

National Hair Loss Awareness Month

Friday, August 6th, 2010

August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month. This brings attention to the matter and heightens awareness that hair loss is a serious concern to millions of individuals afflicted with the condition. Leonard Stillman, Director of Professional Services at Lexington International, LLC, home of the Hairmax LaserCombR Premium, put together some tips for taking charge of your hair loss and treating the condition early on. There are options for hair loss other than a baseball cap…thank you Mr. Stillman!

TIPS FOR TREATING HAIR LOSS
By Leonard Stillman, Director of Professional Services
www.hairmax.com

1. Treat hereditary hair loss at its earliest stages:

Genetic or hereditary hair loss usually begins in the early 20′s for men and usually starts to show as a receding hair line at the front and thinning at the top of the head. From this point on hair loss tends to progress and not get better as shown in the Norwood Hamilton Classification of Hair Loss. By waiting and waiting to take action and not treating hair loss in the early stages, more and more hair follicles die off and once that occurs, no treatment will enable hair regrowth. Once the hair follicle is dead, it will never produce hair again … so don’t wait until it’s too late!

2. Make an informed decision as to when to treat hair loss:

Only when you are fully equipped with a good understanding of your condition and the treatment options available, will you be able to take charge, make informed decisions, and make a difference in your hair to positively impact how you feel about yourself. The internet is an excellent resource, but it is full of both good and sometimes misleading information. A few of the best resources are listed below. They are an excellent resource to get the best advice. They can help you make a sound decision as to when to see treatment for your hair loss.

American Academy of Dermatology

Bernstein Medical Center for Hair Restoration

Stanford Hospital and Clinics – Stanford Health Library

3. Realize that there are effective treatments available that can stop and in many cases help your hair to regrow:

Presently, there are 3 products that have FDA approval/clearance for hair growth and have been proven effective. Minoxidil is an over the counter ingredient widely available in many preparations, the prescription drug containing finesteride, and the HairMax LaserCombR, (pictured) a home use laser phototherapy medical device that has been proven to re-grow hair and prevent further hair loss. Also, there are many other products that are useful when used in conjunction with these products to help potentiate their effect. So you no longer have to have the attitude of, “nothing
works, so why bother”.

4. Visit your health care practitioner:

If you want some expert advice, then you should make an appointment with a health care practitioner for expert advice. Probably the best physician to see is a dermatologist who is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of hair loss. If you need to locate a dermatologist in your area, access www.aad.org and they have a physician locator.

Remember, hair loss IS treatable! The best chance you have to help control your hair loss is to do something about it when you first notice hair loss is occurring.

“How to” braid

Friday, July 30th, 2010

The hottest hairstyle this season is the braid! Today’s braid is an updated version of the classic that’s perfect for a long day at the office or even a night out on the town.

Women’s Health magazine July/August issue (on newsstands now) shows a version that’s perfect for keeping hair off your face or for that dreaded “growing out your bangs” period.

Headband Braid

1) Make a horizontal line two inches back from your hairline and separate that front section of hair. Leave the rest loose.

2) Starting at the left side of the head, just above your ear, French braid until you reach your right ear.

3) Secure the braid with an elastic and tuck the ends behind your right ear. Curl the rest of your hair with a curling iron.

A Premiere Beauty “Show Stopper”!

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

The Silence HP hair dryers grabbed my attention earlier this week at the Premiere Beauty Show in Florida. This dryer is fab! I snatched one up. I got the Ionic model. I used it this morning. It operates silently. I actually listened to the morning news while drying my hair! It has a concentrated air flow which is great for styling. The cord is extra long at 10 feet. It’s energy efficient with a lifetime motor warranty. I learned that it is made in the US and is the only professional hair dryer made here. I am taking it to my salon next week to turn the stylists there on to it. They NEED to have these. How great it would be to visit the salon without hearing the stylist talking over the numerous hair dryers! The Silence HP was recently featured on the Discovery Channel!
