I was telling the “Glam” team here that when bouncing around from Florida to Rhode Island to Los Angeles, I don’t always take the best care of my skin. I find myself using whatever products that are there and I am always short something somewhere. Sometimes I’ll just grab whatever soap is in the shower or at the sink to wash my face. Our East Coast Editor, Donna Raheb, scolded me about that and really, I do know better. That is when she shared about one of her new “Faves” Arbonne Calm products. She told us the Calm set consists of Gentle Daily Cleanser, Soothing Facial Serum, Gentle Daily Moisturizer & Soothing Eye Gel. They have a travel kit also, (she hinted). Donna suggested we all give the Calm products a try so I am sure you’ll be hearing more about the products here and there at ItsaGlamThing.com. And Donna, I promise I’ll gather these and my other favorite beauty products up and keep them in all the right locations so I can stick to a proper skin care regimen wherever I am.

One of the most famous brands in the clothing industry, Ed Hardy, is now in the beauty industry! Inspired by tattoo art designs, there are brushes, combs, blow dryers, flat irons, hair accessories & more. The Rose Teasing Brush is one of my “Fave” Ed Hardy styling tool products. It’s got 3 rows of bristles and a sectioning tail for a perfect tease every time. I love that it is easy to grip and I feel so cool when I use it! www.folica.com

If I were a cheerleader, I would cheer for ELLINGTON Handbags! I love ELLINGTON handbags and I can’t say enough about the high quality characteristics of the bags. My ELLINGTON cheer would include words like luxury, feel good, look good, classic-chic & number one. Right now, I am loving the Nicole Hobo. It has a diagonal zip-top opening which is really unique. It’s a round hobo with brushed nickel-toned hard wear and made with buttery soft leather. The straps are laced decoratively. I love it in Dove Gray for Fall and it’s fab! in Red too. Go ahead and make your move…treat yourself to an Ellington handbag.

“When it comes to hiding behind their shades, celebs have the right idea,” says nationally known cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Jessica Wu. “Not only do they look stylish when they’re incognito but their oversize sunglasses help protect their eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, which can damage the thin skin around the eyes and cause crow’s feet and other wrinkles or worse, cataracts and eyelid cancer.” According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, approximately 5 to 10 percent of all skin cancers occur on the eyelid.
Dr. Wu tells us how to keep our peepers protected in style this summer:
• If you have fair skin and light eyes, like Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren, you’re at greater risk of developing growths on your eyelids, so look for shades that block 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays, it’s a smart choice for anyone buying new sunglasses.
• If you’re into water sports, like Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston, choose wraparound frames that help cut down on reflected UV rays from the water and sand.
• If you love the classic Jackie O look, choose one of the cool, contemporary styles that stars like Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie wear. Aside from making you look mysterious, they protect more skin in the delicate eye area and they’re great for people watching!
“Regardless of style, always apply sunscreen around your eyes, and check any prospective new shades for a label that states compliance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI),” says Dr. Wu. This certifies that the lenses meet a certain level of quality, and that they won’t have cracks or bubbles that could interfere with your vision.
Sunglass Hut at Tampa International Plaza carries sunglasses ranging from the iconic aviator design to oversized Jackie O shades from brands like Gucci, Oakley, Ray-Ban & Eco. While at the plaza you can pick up a great sunscreen at Sephora. Try Supergoop’s SPF 30 Face & Body Moisturizer, DDF’s Advance Moisture Defense UV Cream or Murad’s Oil Control Mattifer with SPF 15.
