The Eyes Have It

Thursday, January 24th, 2013
Made a trip to the salon. Not for a blow dry or hair cut. Just to get eye lash extensions which to my suprise they turned out
looking amazing! Completely worth my while as much as the cost for fuller, thicker, long batty lashes.  It took about 2 hrs, as I laid comfy on the table listening to the relaxing sounds of worship music. The lashes do last well over 2 weeks if you care for them as instructed.  For a more dramatic look, applying mascara is OK on the upper part of the lash.
Could eyelash extensions be another way to update your style? Yes it is. Anything that enhances your overall appearance.
BEFORE
AFTER FYI: raw images, no makeup added, no filters, no photo-shop
Keep in mind, lash extensions must be applied correctly by a professional expert in order to have a yours truly, natural effect.

Oxygen Skin Therapy

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

I couldn’t wait for last week to pass! It turned out to be one of those unexpected, very eventful yet stressful weeks. From flat tires to meeting appointments, and children school activities not a moments rest for a work-at-home mom. If you can relate then you know that you’d be looking forward to Friday. That’s because I was scheduled to get an Oxiana facial. Not knowing exactly what it was all about was more exciting, all I knew was that I was going to get some needed ‘me’ and relaxation time. So I arrived at the Absolute Wellness Center, where the facial began with a cleansing from my forehead to shoulders, warm towels applied, then creams with fruit extracts and minerals applied in massaging motion, warm towels again. Once the skin pores are open, oxygen infused with vitanomes was airbrushed onto my face continuously for about 15 minutes with the purpose of detoxifying the skin. I left with a glossy mask, recommended that you leave on for 1-2 hours in order to achieve the best results which would be reduction of fine lines, tightening, as well as skin marks from sun damage or hyper pigmentation. The Oxiana facial is especially useful for sun worshipers like those here in Florida. Thanks to the skilled aesthetician Shantell, I was able to say my week did have a very nice ending…

Here’s 2 photos of me after the facial and a few days later:

immediately after the Oxiana facial

4 days after smoother skin, pores visibly reduced

Take Those Stubborn Inches Off

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Days are warming up here in Florida, and while I stop to smell the blooming roses this time of year, here come the thoughts of summer, beach, sand, pool, and more. But am I ready for all the new adventures? Not quite, since my workout routine took about a 1 month hiatus. Needless to say, I’ve begun the exercise but I needed a quick boost and more so an incentive to stay consistent; so I scheduled an appointment at a quaint spa, A Caring Touch Skin Therapy.  The reason being, to get a body firming & toning wrap.  Despite, the many opinions about this wrap I was advised it works.  This type of body wrap is designed to give a lending hand to those parts of your bod where it cannot burn fat properly on it’s own nor rid you of toxins that otherwise remain stuck underneath your shell.

Owner, Rhonda McDaniels greeted me with a form to complete from skin issues to eating habits, as it’s important to know in order for her to determine your needs and fulfill them for your skin or body.  I was then directed into the treatment room where she begins by explaining the process:

Step 1: Measurements are taken of the arms, midriff, stomach, hips, thighs, calves in order to track any loss after the wrap treatment is done
Step 2: An allover body scrub, to open skin pores and activate the lymphatics
Step 3: Cotton cloth pieces are soaked in warm water and wrapped around you from shoulder to ankles
Step 4: You’re covered in thin foil paper plus sheets to preserve the warmth while waiting 35-40 minutes in dim lighting and relaxation sounds

During the waiting time, Rhonda proceeds to give me a facial massage in key areas which will also awaken the lymphatics. Time passed all too quickly, as the cloths were removed and measurements were re-taken when, to my surprise I’d lost a total of 13.5 inches overall. Even more so thrilled about the 4.5 I’d lost in my hip & thigh area alone!
My skin felt smoother and the appearance of minor cellulite appear no more. I am totally pleased with the results of just 1 treatment, although at least 4 are recommended if you want to achieve more.
May I also advise? Do try the body wrap as a quick solution for wearing that shapely dress that’s been waiting in your closet to a night out on the town. A Caring Touch Skin Therapy lived up to its name, giving kind, professional service by Rhonda who says she truly enjoys helping others reach their body image goals.

Jump start, now!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

I wanted to share my enthusiasm for another spring Nail hue I’ve acquired through Avon called Mulberry.  Looks like a mixture of mauve & berries.  Mmmm! almost sounds delicious but, be certain its tantalizing.  I enjoy knowing there’s No need to break a sweat just trying to wear this new beauty trend because it goes with a wide range of colors in your wardrobe including flower prints.  You can also use it to spruce up pastels.   So, if you have not gotten around to shopping for the latest spring/summer looks, simply spread the polish in warm mauve, or berry tones on your nails for an easy jump start.

Pimples Zapped!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

I’ve realized I purchased a great little pimple zapper from Avon’s Clearskin,  spot acne treatment.  Though I don’t suffer from acne but occasionally I do experience a break out here & there because I wasn’t blessed by whomever the almighty porcelain skin goddess may be.   Containing 2% salicylic acid, I apply directly on the spot and have literally noticed the redness and swelling of the emerging pimple disappear within 30 minutes, this way I avoid scarring and marking my skin as it tends to do on women of my skin color or Latin heritage.
Now, that is how quickly and easily it works for me, but I want to explain not everyone’s skin is the same or will have the same reaction to the treatment.  You may need to apply 2 times a day at least in case the nuisance refuses to go away, have patience it will be zapped!  On the other hand, I’m psyched I didn’t have to spend close to $175 for Zeno which  is why I wanted to share this inexpensive product,  for those who need a more budget friendly option.
